Wordless Wednesday?

Yes, I know it's supposed to be Wordless Wednesday, BUT I have to speak. LOL! Yes, I know that will not surprise some of you. Today, I was logged on my agency's website and found out more families received LOA's (Letter of Acceptance), the document that we are waiting for. Yes, I was very disappointed. When Blake came home, we talked about how long we've been held up by the U.S. Gov't. and now we are waiting for the Chinese government. Fast forward two hours later and we are eating Chinese take-out. At the end of the meal, I grab a fortune cookie, which has the audacity to tell me, " Right now, you need to be patient." What?!!!!!! Yes, I am speechless...

Hot Cocoa, Bananas, and Freezing Rain

Freezing rain has hit our little part of the world today. Our school district released the kids a little bit early this afternoon. Maggie and Isabella enjoyed some hot cocoa and bananas, while playing Go Fish. Strange combination? They didn't think so.

Hummus, Dinosaurs, and Baby Gap

The girls and I had a fun weekend. On Friday afternoon, we drove to OKC and met Grandpa and Grandma K and Theresa and her clan for dinner at Cheever's ( a cool, upscale restaurant on NW23rd and Hudson). Great choice, Theresa! The girls tried hummas--interesting, not a favorite of mine. Isabella and I shared the Alaskan Halibut--yum! quite delicious! We all then went to the Ford Center and saw Dinosaurs Alive! It was fun for all ages. It's so much fun to watch kids get excited about learning things. My niece Maddie Jane kept me quite entertained during the show. We spent the night at the K Farm and went shopping the next day at Penn Square Mall. The girls found a few things. I also found quite a bit for Jack Henry. I realized last week that the poor kid wouldn't have anything to wear if I didn't start shopping! The girls and I have had a fun time buying him things--although boy clothes are not quite as fun as girl clothes. I think everyone would agree with me on this...

Oh Where, Oh Where...

I spoke with our agency last week, and it doesn't look like we'll be getting our LOA anytime soon. The Chinese New Year begins on January 26th and the Chinese government shuts down for a week. So, instead of traveling in March, we will probably travel in April. Being patient is difficult, especially when there is a little boy sitting in China waiting for his family to come and get him.

Thank you, Mr. President.

Today, I had the privilege of being able to watch the inauguration of the 44th President of the United States. A few things stood out for me today. First of all, what a great nation we live in--a peaceful transition of power in the most powerful nation on earth. Second, I realized how grateful I am to President George W. Bush and the men and women of the United States military for keeping our homeland safe the last 7 years. I pray for the new president--his job will not be easy. May God bless America.

Just a thought for the day...

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Poor, Baby!

We took Lola to the vet today. She got "fixed," and she had her teeth cleaned. For the cherry on top, she got her annual vaccinations. Poor, baby! I feel so bad for her, but it all had to be done. She is the sweetest! Do you feel for her?

Surf and Turf, Baby!

Okay, what started out as a potentially bad weekend (our Oklahoma Sooners lost the BCS Bowl) actually turned in to a fabulous weekend. When in doubt, steak and lobster always cheers a person up! Trust me--it doesn't get better than this. A completely unplanned evening! I called my friend Mary on the way to church at about 4:30 Saturday afternoon and by 7:30 that evening we were all eating lobster, steak, and shrimp. Yum! Another great thing about this weekend was the fabulous weather we had today. It was absolutely beautiful! Isabella and Blake took some time to play catch. And the other girls joined them for some basketball.

Any day now...

Well, we are trying to wait patiently for our LOA (Letter of Acceptance) from the Chinese government. I am hoping that we will get it before the Chinese New Year, which is January 26th. Prayers are welcome! If we get it then, we will probably travel in March--hopefully, during spring break. Don't worry, you will know it when we get it--you will hear us screaming with happiness!

Happy New Year!

Our family rang in the new year with a pajama party at Mary and Diego's home. As you can see, the girls were much more excited than Blake about 2009. LOL!
